What! Is a ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ sequel in the offing?

The multi-talented Farhan Akhtar, who has been wowing us time and again with not just his acting skills, but also as a singer, director, writer, lyricist and so on, recently revealed something interesting about his first movie as a director, ‘Dil Chahta Hai‘. He said that he does plan to helm a sequel of the cult bromance film! Talking about the same to a famous daily, he said, “A sequel to ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ is something that I would like to do. I actually mentioned this earlier this year too. It is too early to say if anything is happening or not, only time will tell. I have a lot on my mind about the sequel, but I don’t know what to say about when it is going to happen.”

He also spoke about his experience of working on the sequel to ‘Rock On’. He said, “It was amazing because things were familiar. It is like if you have lived in a house on rent for three years, then moved out, but if you go back to the same place after eight years, you kind of know where everything is — from the switches to the fans. So, the basic blueprint of the space that the film is set in remains the same. I was only trying to familiarise myself again with the same space, and the character, which had occupied me emotionally at one point. And it all came back quickly because Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Prachi Desai and Shahana Goswami were all there. All of us just came back, and bonded the same way we did eight years ago. Of course, we also have Shraddha Kapoor and Shashank Arora, who have joined the cast and bring in the X-factor.”

Now that the man himself has admitted his plans of making a sequel, the first question that arises in our mind is who will replace the fabulous trio of Aamir Khan-Saif Ali Khan-Akshay Kumar.
